;The CAGED system will show how to play over the entire fretboard moving shapes and also how to change shape to be able to play in the same position, it will also show the root pattern as a guide to navigate the fretboard.
;By connecting five open chord shapes...
;...the entire fretboard can be mapped out
;Practical implications
;As seen above:
- In the same position different chords can be played if changing chord shape.
- Open chords can be converted to movable barre-chords.
- The same chord can be played in different positions if changing chord shape.
The same scale can be played in different positions if changing scale shape.
;In the same position different scales can be played changing key and mode.
;The root note pattern
;The root note pattern does not change, it only moves horizontally changing note.
;The root note pattern can be used as reference moving scale and chord shapes.
;The root note pattern can also be used as reference playing scales.
;Movable shapes
;The same chord shape can be used to play different chords if the shape is moved.
;A scale can be moved to be played in another key.
;The same scale shape can be used to play in different keys and modes.
;Here you can find more information on scale degrees and musical key. And here you can create fretboard charts for any scale in any key and tuning.
;Happy playing!
